letters to the editor – am I bad or good in bed? they can’t all be right

Sir

Am I in some form of late life male crisis? My email inbox suggests that I might be, and possibly even that I am leading a dual life, for I am bombarded by hotel and flight booking confirmations that I know nothing about, letters telling me that my sexual performance is wholly inadequate and that the equipment that I would deploy in said performance is too small and lacking in rigidity, but then there are those letters from ladies, mainly it seems in Moscow, that I have pleasured to such extreme that they want me to come back and rescue them from their dreary and unfulfilled lives without me and my bedroom skills. let’s get rid of the pregnant pause

Let’s get rid of the pregnant pause. Why is it that we have to have this stupid long gap between the words “And the winner is” and telling who it is. Ok, I can understand the desire to introduce some drama, but we have gone from about a 5 second pause to well past 20 seconds on some shows and it is just silly. Continue reading

more on Nora the Nasal Nodule

Yesterday I found myself back at the Great Western Hospital. Not just there, but up on the third floor where my Mother spent so much time in her last 7 months or so and where she died in the end; poignant moments being back on that corridor. Continue reading

a talent for lump production; what will HR make of that?

It is a while since I have blogged here. Neglect has been due to so many other things going on in my life and this blog has been one of the things that has regularly fallen off the end of each day’s to do list as demands on my time arrive from all directions, not least the need to interact with the Wonder of Wokingham, but also chasing and winning, or otherwise, opportunities to earn a crust. so wins the Plonker of the Week award this week?

I’m not sure who to feel most sorry for here; the politicians (yes, really), the media or the public, but the panic buying of fuel and the chaos that has been caused over the last few days has left me bewildered. So who will get my Plonker of the Week award this week? Continue reading

Letters to the Editor – how can it be stealth tax when he’s told us and we all know about it? #Budget2012

Sir

Of course the country is up in arms about the tax plans for pensioners, but it is hardly a stealth tax is it? It was publically announced in a high profile speech and the media have been banging on about it every day since. It doesn’t seem like a very stealthy approach to my way of thinking. Letters to the Editor – #levensoninquiry

Sir

Let me see if I have this right; I, as a taxpayer and someone who has had the good sense to change the PIN on my voicemail, an action helpfully suggested in the instructions for every mobile phone that I had had use of, am having to fund this appalling waste of money that we have in the Levenson Inquiry while various assorted public figures and so called celebreties who were stupid enough not to change their PIN are able to both waste my tax money and get compensated for their stupidity and negligence.

Somehow something seems badly wrong in this world.

Yours etc

Letters to the Editor – Canterbury Vacancy #archbishopofcanterbury

Sir

I have suffered from gout, don’t believe in God and talk complete nonsense from time to time. Does this qualify me for the Canterbury vacancy?

Also, under equal opportunities legislation, can that bloke with the hook apply?

I think we should be told.

Yours etc

Gamble – Felix Francis – Book Review

I became a fan of Dick Francis books back in the 1960s and have read every book along the way, eagerly awaiting the next in the series. Some I’m happy to read again and again, others less so. Regardless of whther he or his wife was the prime source of ideas they are good reads, albeit that some did relfect a somewhat sadistic streak.

In recent years a collaboration with son Felix emerged, and he has taken over the franchise in some style. Gamble is the lastest and carries on the fine tradition of whodunnits with a hero, plus a few close to him, in the firing line of the villain(s).

I won’t spoil the story by revealing what it is, but do recommend that you buy the book.

Finding time to write

Pressures of work are curtailing my writing at the moment hence me being less prolific than usual across my various blogs, and my priority is towards keeping up my Monday Musings column each week.

I have not given up on these blogs though and am working on things for all of my various blogs as well as three e-books in various stages of development, one of which is in the final revision prior to editting stage.

So lots of work in progress. Keep watching and thanks for all of your interest.
