Letters to the editor – will they ever learn?

Sir. A certain group of people are at it again, now deploying a tactic on the topic of the Corona virus that has failed them twice in very recent history.

I refer to their smothering of social media channels with the most appalling nonsense with regard to the UK government’s handling of the crisis. Everything is too early, too late, too little, too much and so on. They twist their arguments to suit and all with the sole aim of bringing down the government.

They seem to forget that this government was recently elected despite their efforts to encumber us with one that they would have approved of. When they talk of the Prime Minister’s performance as “sampling” I wonder what they would have thought had we had Jeremy Corbin and Diane Abbott managing things.

Not only did their flooding of social media fail to elect a Labout government many of these same moaners used the social media platforms to keep us in the EU by flooding it with messages of doom. That failed too.

Will they ever learn that the silent majority are not so stupid that we will believe all of their nonsense? I think that we should be told.

Yours etc, Disgusted of Dorcan.

Letters to the editor – the crustless quiche

Sir. One of my occasional breakfast pleasures is the small quiche that my local supermarket offers. They have a range of ingredient mixes and are an inexpensive treat.

However, on deciding to purchase one this week I find that they offer a crustless version. Surely a quiche without a crust is a frittata? Whatever it is it is not a quiche.

Letters to the Editor – Public Urination

Dear Sir

What are things coming to? When did it become acceptable for a man to just stop and take a leak in a public place? Twice this week I have been on a footpath and, on coming around a corner, encountered a man urinating at the side of the path, but whilst there have been just these two close encounters there are a number of places along my regular walks where there is a distinct aroma suggesting that certain places have become well used as toilets.

There was a time when, if nature called and one was too far from proper facilities, one would disappear behind a bush and deal with matters in private, but sadly such times seem to have vanished.

Modern times are a sad disappointment in many ways.

Yours etc

Letters to the Editor – the 2017 election

Sir

It seems to me that Mrs May called for an erection, her campaign has been a cock up and could result in a prick entering number ten. Or perhaps I just have a penis fixation?

Letters to the Editor; can this be right?

Sir

Your columns, like all media chanels, are festooned with the question of rights. Human rights, women’s rights, minority rights and more all in the name of equality.

Yet if there is to be true equality who will make a stand for the lefts?

Yours etc

Letters to the editor; Daylight Saving

Sir

If at any time I decide to sieze power my first action, after signing some execution warrants, will be to abolish the stupidity of daylight saving.

Yours faithfully

in the wake of Sport Relief, another letter to the editor

Sir

A disturbing thought occurs to me. If comedians raising money for charity is Comic Relief and sports personalities raising money for charities is Comic Relief what would happen if the politicians joined in? Continue reading

We were well taught in the 50s and 60s – letters to the editor

Sir

As a primary school boy in the late 1950s and early 60s I learnt my times tables, along with the rest of the class, by chanting them or, in the case of one school by singing them. At my last primary school we were taught by the headmaster who used to take off a shoe and beat time. He could also hurl said shoe with venomous accuracy at anyone he felt was faltering keeping the beat going slapping his bare hand on the desk until his shoe was returned by one of us. letters to the editor – don’t let them buy these vehicles

Sir

Many years ago I attended training in order to improve my two wheeled skills, for in those days one could ride certain motor cycles on the road without having to pass a two wheel test. One of the key lessons was that one should obtain a motor cycle that was appropriate to one’s size; the principle being that you needed to be able to put your feet on the ground when at rest and the point was ably demonstrated by one of the instructors who was about five foot two. It was something that the dealerships also took seriously and would try hard to dissuade buyers from choosing a bike that they would find hard to manage. Continue reading

Letters to the Editor – thoughts on the inappropriate use of popular music

Sir

The power of advertising is unquestionable and people often cite my criticism of what I regard as a bad advert as being proof in point; “Are, but you remember it, so they did their job” will be crowed gleefully at me. Continue reading
